GI A700 is intended for railcars of the 700 and 1000 series and is intended for heating the passenger compartment. The heating system uses the thermal energy of the agent from the Diesel engine cooling system.

Temperature control is achieved using environmental thermostats that shut down the system when the indoor temperature reaches the set value.
GI A700 consists of two heaters for A 700 and 4 heaters for A 1000 which are mounted under the motor car, in the middle area, on both sides, having connections with the related piping. In the spaces between the benches, the piping is provided with hot air exhaust slots and at the ends with covers whose slots direct the hot air towards the center of the access halls.

The heaters are equipped with an automatically operated damper depending on the ambient temperature, the temperature in the compartment and the temperature of the Diesel engine coolant. The damper ensures three functions of the heaters:

• passenger compartment heating between 21ºC - 24ºC
• passenger compartment ventilation in summer
• additional cooling of the Diesel engine coolant in summer when the ambient temperature is very high
